Another Fall Day

Friday June 10th 2016

The seasons haven’t unscrambled yet. It is still very fall like, although it was a little warmer today. When I walked by the swimming pool it looked very lonely. No one was using it in the late afternoon. Tomorrow is forecast to be warmer, so it should get some use.

Traffic out on the highway was very heavy both this morning and afternoon. The presence of RVs, boats and cars with bicycle racks indicated it was a get away day. I was expecting to find the campground full when I got back. I was surprised to find lots of sites empty around me.

On my evening walk around the campground, I found that the empty sites near mine are some of the only ones not occupied. I’m not sure if these are held for travelers or if they are reserved by a group traveling together. I don’t see anything wrong with the sites. Two are pull thru sites and the others are good size back in sites.

During my walk I saw a couple of RVs from California and one from Montana. These represent the longest distance traveled assuming they really are based in those states. Montana is one of the states that some full time RVers try to take advantage of by setting up an LLC to own their equipment. This creates some tax advantages, but creates a few other legal problems.

Most of the weekend campers are from Massachusetts or the neighboring states. They are mostly families with young kids. The pool, a bunch of arcade machines and a playground are the family attractions. I visited many similar campgrounds as a kid.

While I’ve been writing this blog entry, one of the sites near me has been taken. I guess time will tell if they get occupied this weekend.
